The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) is a union devoted solely to representing employees of the Australian tertiary education system. This encompasses academic, general/professional and research staff, ELICOS/TESOL teachers and staff of research institutes. It also includes student unions, university companies, and (in Victoria) TAFE general staff and staff in Adult & Community Education.

There is a NTEU Branch office located at every university campus in Australia. The University of Newcastle also has a NTEU branch on campus.
